Five Jacksonville restaurants temporarily closed for dozens of roaches, rodent droppings on supplies

Five Jacksonville restaurants were temporarily closed last week when inspectors found dried rodent droppings on top of baking materials and dozens of live roaches on site.

Charlie’s Diner at 8929 Philips Hwy. was temporarily shut down when inspectors found more than 50 live roaches under the sink, hot water not provided at the hand-wash sink, mold on the ice machine and employees lacking training certifications. A follow up inspection cleared them to reopen but another is required.
