The St. Louis Board of Aldermen voted Monday to remove an exemption that allowed some property owners to get out of paying fines for their vacant real estate.
After throwing out the McKee Exemption, now all vacant homeowners will be fined $200 twice a year. The additional funds will help the city address vacancy issues and prompt homeowners to make changes to their property, according to KSDK.
