Opinion: Why we should innovate to house all Oregonians


Oregon is facing an unparalleled housing crisis. Today, at least 17,900 people are experiencing homelessness in Oregon. It's an emergency that cuts through every community in our state.

I commend Gov. Tina Kotek for setting 36,000 new homes per year as a goal. Imagine the multitude of benefits gained by housing Oregonians who need housing. This goal is achievable, but we will not reach it by just building housing the established way, even if we significantly increase public funding for housing.…
