Legislation giving property owners in Hawaii the right to enter adjacent vacant privately owned properties in an effort to get rid of the fast-growing, invasive albizia trees became law without Gov. David Ige’s signature.
Senate Bill 464, which became Act 13 on Monday, seeks to address the problem of the fast-growing trees, which can reach 150 feet and have brittle branches prone to breakage with no warning, especially during high winds and tropical storms, blocking roads and causing power outages.
