Nobu sets opening date for Houston location, accepting reservations
After nearly two years of anticipation, Houstonians will soon taste the sushi at Nobu.
The New York-based restaurant will open June 1 on the second floor of the former Saks Fifth Avenue space — dubbed the Galleria VI wing — at the Galleria mall, according to a press release. Guests can make reservations either by calling 832-987-2599 or going online to noburestaurants.com/houston.

Alaska Airlines to become first U.S. airline to go strawless
Alaska Airlines is replacing its plastic stir straws and citrus picks with sustainable alternatives starting in July.
Last year, the Seattle-based carrier distributed 22 million plastic stir straws and citrus picks. They will be replaced with white birch stir sticks and a bamboo alternative for the citrus pick, while non-plastic straws will be available upon request.

B&B Hospitality Group wants to move on without co-owner Mario Batali.

A popular Roosevelt Row restaurant is opening a second Phoenix location, according to the Arizona Republic.
Angels Trumpet Ale House, which sits across from FilmBar on Second and McKinley streets, will expand to Arcadia. The new eatery, dubbed Angels Trumpet Ale House & Tall Glass, is set to open in an old Sears Auto Center at 44th and Oak streets, south of Thomas Road, according to the Republic.

Infestation prompts temporary closure of Oak Park Brewing
It appears Oak Park Brewing Co. is temporarily closed due to a public health violation.
A sign displayed at the business at 3514 Broadway by the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department confirms the closure. It cites a temporary suspension of the brewpub's health permit. The sign attributes the closure to an insect or rodent infestation. The notice is dated May 19.

Ulele names new executive chef
Ulele, the native Floridian cuisine restaurant in Tampa Heights, has named a new executive chef.
Columbia Restaurant Group on Monday announced that Keith Williamson is the new executive chef at Ulele, replacing Eric Lackey, who left the post “a few months ago,” a spokesman said.

Charleys Philly Steaks, a national cheesesteak chain restaurant, has opened a new store in San Antonio to be followed by two more this year.
