A Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain is slowly taking over the Dayton region with a new, fifth location announced. The project will add more gas and food options and prompt new hires in a local community.

Burger Champ, a new restaurant from Chris Kelling and Adam Altnether, will open this summer at 2704 Sutton Blvd. in Maplewood. The new concept will replace Elmwood, an upscale restaurant concept the pair opened in January 2019 but that closed during the pandemic.

Another local site could come in the future. The fitness franchise had an Elk Grove presence in the past, and would like to return to that city.

In 2010, Carlene Murphy had the existing home taken down and lived in the quaint guest house on the property for years as her dream home took shape.
