Inside the historical Emery Theater, the paint is peeling. The seats are worn and broken. Light fixtures dangle from sockets. A railing comes off in my hand. There’s no heat on the coldest day so far this fall.
Yet the beauty of the long-neglected theater in Over-the-Rhine still shines through. You need only see the graceful curvature of the balconies, the architectural details of the proscenium arch over the stage and the majestic height of the ceiling to know that the venue is a Cincinnati treasure.…
