Dayton leaders strategize for more affordable housing

While a new state housing tax credit could help, local Dayton officials say there is not an easy solution for the city’s affordable housing shortage. An Ohio budget legislation signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in July is creating a tax credit to promote single-family affordable homeownership. The law addresses the issue, but barriers remain in trying to stem the tide not only in the Dayton region, but nationwide. Locally, the city of Dayton is preparing a new housing policy to help address the issue.
