Living Cities CEO sees potential in Truist-backed small business program, focus on west Charlotte


In January, Joe Scantlebury, president and CEO of Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit Living Cities, came to Charlotte for the kickoff of a racial and economic equity program backed by Truist Financial Corp. (NYSE: TFC).

Scantlebury’s organization is a collaboration among 19 foundations and banks working to reverse centuries of systemic racism in the U.S. In other words, he recognizes that solving complicated, interconnected disparities is not an overnight task.
