Jim McGowan knew from a very young age he wanted to work in senior health care. As a teen, his first job was as a nurse aid. As an undergraduate, he aspired to be either a geriatric physician or nursing home administrator. The latter stuck: Forty years later, he’s now president of Maple Knoll Communities, one of the region’s largest retirement communities. Its flagship location spans 54 acres in the Cincinnati suburb of Springdale.
