A 16th fissure oozing lava spatter from Kilauea volcano opened Saturday on Hawaii’s Big Island and a “steady, vigorous plume of steam” with ash arose from the Halemaumau Crater near the volcano's summit, as the Hawaii National Guard made preparations to help with evacuating as many as 2,000 people from areas along the coast.
