REVIEW: Mahler’s ‘Resurrection’ Symphony electrifies in CSO season opener, marking a return to normalcy


Near the end of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra’s magnificent performance of Mahler’s “Resurrection” Symphony, the 180-voice chorus whispered the words of Klopstock’s hymn in German, “Rise again, yes you will rise again.”

After an 85-minute journey through many disparate moods and emotions, after the trumpets of the Apocalypse had rung out, those words symbolized for many of us in Music Hall, as they had for Mahler, that there is hope for humankind.
