Rising property taxes force closure of Austin Java on Barton Springs

Austin Java will close its location at 1608 Barton Springs Road on July 1, pushed out of the urban core by rising property taxes.

The company posted Monday on Facebook that to stay in business at the Barton Springs locale "would mean a dramatic increase in menu prices in order to stay afloat, and we don't want our loyal, long-time patrons to suffer as a result."

An Irish pub focusing on fries and meat pies will replace Austin Java, Eater Austin reports citing job postings.
