California's population fell for the third year in a row, with the Bay Area accounting for the state's largest decreases, according to estimates released by the state last week.
In Santa Clara County, the population decreased by about 16,553 people between July 2021 and July 2022 — a 0.87% drop, according to state data. The county was only second to Los Angeles County in terms of state losses, which saw more than 113,000 people leave in the same time period.
