SNACpack Program receives Empire Whole Health award for feeding food insecure children in Saratoga Springs


In 2014, federal data showed 17.4 million households had difficulty affording food at some point during the year. Families in the Saratoga Springs School District were no exception; approximately 619 children lived in poverty at the time.

One of them was a boy named Richard, who, in elementary school, was considered learning disabled. It was discovered he struggled due to severe hunger. Oftentimes, he didn’t get dinner or have food on the weekends.
