Alex Betancourt of Kansas City, Kan., is taking the world soccer stage as the sole American representative in the World Cup — of eFootball.
The gamer, 19, made it out of the group stage into the semifinals, which take place Saturday in London. One group of 16 plays on PlayStation4, and another group takes the virtual field using Xbox One, Reuters reports.
Betancourt was signed by Sporting Kansas City in March to play in a new competitive sports league that started in the spring.
