St. Paul City Council OKs bigger rent hikes on empty units, but nixes ‘full vacancy decontrol’


St. Paul's City Council on Wednesday approved another change to its much-debated new rent-control policy, voting to allow larger rent hikes on apartments when tenants move out.

The Pioneer Press reports on the new measure, approved 7-0, that will let landlords raise rents by 8% on top of inflation when leasing a vacant apartment to a new tenant.
