In early 2012, the city of Hickory recognized that a plan was necessary to economically revitalize the city. While every city is unique, some basic concepts for promoting growth and revitalization are unchanging from city to city. Hickory’s City Council visited some successfully revitalized cities. From those visits, the voters passed a $40 million bond referendum that was created in 2014.
