The world’s largest audiobook company is in Landover. It just got a new owner.


Just 15 months after rolling up several audiobook and digital media companies to create RBmedia, Shamrock Capital Advisors has agreed to sell the Landover company to KKR & Co. Inc.

Terms were not disclosed. New York-based KKR (NYSE: KKR) and Los Angeles-based Shamrock are expected to close the deal this fall.

Richard Sarnoff, chairman of media, entertainment and education for KKR, told The Wall Street Journal that the company loves the audiobook sector and thinks its growth will continue.
