U.S. mortgage rates fell again this week, according to Freddie Mac.
The 30-year fixed mortgage averaged 4.51 percent for the week ending Aug. 23, down from 4.53 percent the previous week. A year ago, mortgage rates stood at 3.86 percent.
Favorable mortgage rates have helped drive U.S. home sales and the refinance market.
Sam Khater, Freddie Mac’s chief economist, said mortgage rates inched backward this week to their lowest level since mid-April.
