Wellstar Health System is officially closing the Atlanta Medical Center Nov. 1.
The decision sent waves through the Georgia health care system and raised questions from business and government leaders about how best to serve residents in the area.
Atlanta Medical Center is in Old Fourth Ward and is one of two Level 1 trauma centers in Atlanta that provide urgent care to victims of car crashes or other violence. Grady Memorial Hospital is the other.
