11th-hour push is on to preserve Muny, Austin’s historic golf course, in face of development pressures


In a hot real estate market like Austin, 141 acres of open space doesn't stay green for very long— particularly when it's a few miles from downtown and has prime views of the Hill Country and the Colorado River. But Lions Municipal Golf Course isn't like other properties. It may be one of the few patches of Austin that can withstand the tremendous market forces that would lead to more homes and offices.
