133 Chicago economic development projects share $54 million in grants


A technology education center was among 133 recipients chosen Tuesday by the city of Chicago for $54 million in economic development grants.

The XChange, a 50,000-square-foot workforce training building in Grand Crossing, will receive a $5 million grant as construction is slated to begin this summer.

Other projects that will receive a $5 million grant are Equity Arts in West Town and Deeply Rooted Dance Theater in the Washington Park neighborhood.

Grants range between $10,000 and $5 million.
