UCSF Chancellor Sam Hawgood
Hawgood has presided over one of the largest private fundraising windfalls in the country by a public university — and now must get to work spending the money. The Helen Diller Family Foundation donated $500 million in 2017 to recruit faculty and fund cutting-edge research, only to follow it up with another $500 million in February to help rebuild the university’s Parnassus Heights campus.
