45-year-old Lakewood chicken restaurant closing at end of 2018


White Fence Farm will close on Dec. 30 — an inevitable conclusion to what its owners say is a local restaurant scene that has changed so fundamentally that the family-friendly Lakewood farm eatery has been operating in the red for “a considerable amount of time.”

The iconic restaurant — known for its fried chicken and for its almost amusement-park-style atmosphere, complete with animals, carriage rides and a farmhouse stage, had operated since 1973, serving over 5 million chicken dinners…
