Pokeworks restaurants to pop up in Austin

Austin will get deeper entrenched in one of the biggest food trends of the past few years — poke bowls.

New York-based Pokéworks announced recently it signed a franchise agreement with Marcos Blanco to debut five restaurants in the Austin area. They'll serve up poke, which is diced raw fish served either as an appetizer or as a main course and is one of the main dishes of Native Hawaiian cuisine. A handful of local shops focused on the food have already popped up throughout the region.
