Merger by chocolate: Two Portland confectioners join forces


A pair of Portland chocolate giants are getting together in the business arena.

Moonstruck Chocolate Co. said Friday it has purchased Alma Chocolate, which began life as a boutique Laurelhurst retailer and has become a fixture among Oregon artisan foods peddlers.

Moonstruck, headquartered in St. Johns, is one of the city's best known food production companies, with widespread distribution and a sterling national reputation.
