BancorpSouth hires former Bham bank exec as Auburn community bank president


A Mississippi-based bank has named a former Birmingham bank executive as its new community bank president in Auburn.

Larry J. Uptain, who formerly served as vice president of Wells Fargo in Birmingham, has joined the Auburn operation of BancorpSouth Bank (NYSE: BXS), a bank headquartered in Tupelo, Mississippi, with approximately $17 billion in assets.

In his new role, Uptain will oversee the bank’s efforts to foster deeper ties to customers and the community in the growing market.
