Alaska Airlines to become first U.S. airline to go strawless


Alaska Airlines is replacing its plastic stir straws and citrus picks with sustainable alternatives starting in July.

Last year, the Seattle-based carrier distributed 22 million plastic stir straws and citrus picks. They will be replaced with white birch stir sticks and a bamboo alternative for the citrus pick, while non-plastic straws will be available upon request.
