Appeal denied for 601 Capitol Mall housing project


Though some acknowledged they, too, would like to see something taller at 601 Capitol Mall, Sacramento City Council members unanimously denied an appeal of approval for an eight-story housing and retail project planned for the site.

Requiring a taller project by Shorenstein Properties, said Councilman Steve Hansen, would make such a project financially unfeasible under current conditions, and could leave it undeveloped for years to come.
