Austin is permitting more houses, apartments than before recession but prices keep climbing


"This relatively robust level of activity would seem to signal that the region might be making a dent in the supply conditions that place upward pressure on regional home prices and rents," an Austin Chamber of Commerce official concluded. "However, tightness, particularly of the sales market, remains a widely cited issue in Austin."
