Bank of America’s top Bay Area executive takes on new role


Bank of America said this week that Thong Nguyen, a San Francisco-based executive who has been co-head of the consumer lines of business, will become vice chairman, focused on corporate strategy and payments.

Charlotte-based BofA (NYSE: BAC) said that Dean Athanasia, Nguyen’s Boston-based counterpart overseeing consumer banking, will now become the sole head of the consumer lines, which include preferred, small business and retail banking, moving those responsibilities away from San Francisco.
