Austin Business Journal highlights Austin-based banks with headquarters in Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and Caldwell counties. The list is ranked by local deposits. Data is provided by the FDIC Deposit Market Share reports as of June 30, 2022 and includes assets, branches and market share. ABJ surveys each bank to update number of local employees and bank executives. The HQ list lost another bank this year. Pioneer Bank merged and is now part of Sunflower Bank, which is based in Colorado. FirstSun Capital Bancorp completed its merger with Texas-based Pioneer Bancshares Inc. April 1, 2022. Pioneer bank was founded in Austin in 2007 and ranked No. 5 on this list last year. Overall, locally based banks had combined deposits of $6.8 billion and assets of $7.85 billion as of June 30, 2022.
