Canterbury Park preparing shorter racing season as agreement with tribe expires


Canterbury Park is preparing for a shorter horse racing season this year as a deal between the park and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is reaching its end.

In 2012, the Shakopee-based Canterbury Park Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: CPHC) agreed not to seek additional gaming, like slot machines, in return for purse investments from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community, which owns and operates Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake.
