South Florida's recent food hall boom has expanded to South Miami, where an outdoor shopping mall is in the midst of redevelopment.

Yumbrella opened in a 6,500-square-foot space at the Shops at Sunset Place, which is owned and operated by Federal Realty Investment Trust, Grass River Property and The Comras Co. The joint venture in 2017 detailed a plan to overhaul the property to add apartments, a hotel, more office space and additional public plazas while reducing its retail component.

Sean Sherman, the founder of the Tatanka food truck and the upcoming riverside restaurant The Sioux Chef, has been selected for the Leadership Award from the James Beard Foundation.
