Meredith cuts 200 jobs with organizational changes, impacts Birmingham
National media giant Meredith laid off 200 employees amid organizational changes announced Wednesday, including ones that impact Birmingham employees at the former Southern Progress and Time Inc. campus.
A spokesman for Meredith said about 25 workers will be laid off in Birmingham. The company will still employ more than 200 in the Magic City after the cuts, and 7,500 total employees in its entire footprint.

Another well-known restaurant will shutter its doors because of the rising cost of doing business in Austin.
Threadgill's announced Wednesday it would close its location at 301 W. Riverside Dr. at the end of November. The Threadgill's location on North Lamar will remain in business.
“The boom-town property taxes are high as a skyscraper and we are a one story mom and pop shop,” Threadgill's owner Eddie Wilson wrote on Facebook. “Unfortunately, it's time for us to move on.”
