The concept was created by Pleasantry co-founders Daniel Souder and Joanna Kirkendall and chef Evan Hartman. They selected the name to casually explain the restaurant’s staple – “really good chicken,” Souder said.

BID-like group rises in Old Town Alexandria
Alexandria economic development leaders last September abandoned their efforts to install a business improvement district in Old Town, citing a lack of active leadership and backing from the private sector.
A year later, a new public-private partnership has formed that looks an awful lot like a BID, but is not formally established or funded as such. It's planning a series of events aimed at increasing foot traffic in Old Town and drawing more visitors to the revived waterfront.
The partnership,…

The state licensed two marijuana labs. Here’s what else must happen before sales begin
Massachusetts has given provisional approval to two recreational marijuana-testing labs, but there are still a few more important steps before pot sales can begin.
On Thursday afternoon, the state’s Cannabis Control Commission gave preliminary approval to both CDXAnalytics in Salem and MCR Labs in Framingham. Though both labs have been testing medical marijuana under the auspices of the Department of Public Health, they needed additional approval from the commission to test recreational marijuana.…
