Kingfisher, a cocktail bar located next to The Durham hotel, will be opening later this year. The bar is the creation of Sean Umstead and his wife and business partner, Michelle Vanderwalker.

Once open, Kingfisher will highlight fresh and skillfully preserved fruits and produce from local farms to be used in craft cocktails and small plates. As far as the interior design of the bar, that will be left to Umstead’s wife, Vanderwalker.

Minnesota-based Life Time Inc. has opened its eighth Houston-area facility, a 248,000-square-foot athletic resort.

Located at 9922 Fry Road, Life Time Athletic Cypress is hosting a grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting at 6 p.m. on June 14, and the club will open to all members starting 4 a.m. June 18, according to a press release.
