A St. Louis-based corporate food-service company has merged with a Kansas City-based food-service provider to form a new business that, in the future, will be employee owned.

KC Lodge Ventures was created by PB&J Restaurants Inc. in 2013 to operate the lodge-like bar and grill concept in Kansas and Missouri. Combined, its five restaurants had about 600 employees.

The company founded by Biggi's mother in 1929 is now in 150,000 stores in the U.S.
