Chandler man faces federal prison term over fraudulent investment scheme


Chandler resident Jeffrey McHatton has been sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for his role in a securities fraud scheme involving a religious charitable organization.

McHatton, 68, was previously found guilty on 10 counts of securities fraud in July after a jury trial. His prison sentence was handed down on Dec. 12 by U.S. District Judge Rosemary Márquez. McHatton will be subject to three years' probation after being released from prison,
