When it came time to pick a career path as a teenager, Kevin Gillespie had options: nuclear engineer, theater actor, or a career military serviceman. Each potential option came with a college scholarship.
“The problem was, I didn’t want to do any of those things. I knew I wanted to cook,” Gillespie said, but “I thought I would break [my parents] hearts,” he told Atlanta Business Chronicle.
