The 302-unit Shelby Ranch development, which has started construction near Slaughter Lane in South Austin, offers a twist on the typical multifamily dynamic in order to differentiate itself in a crowded market. "We wanted to pull on the South Austin fabric — the vibe that exists down there — to deliver something different that hadn’t been done before," one of the development execs said. "We programmed or designed the project such that we had the applicable space to really create a pretty rad outdoor area."
