Colorado plant-based meat startup lands on grocery shelves, plots national expansion

Steak-like cuts and chicken-style cutlets made from mushroom root by a high-profile Colorado plant-based meat startup have made their retail debut in area grocery stores.

Four products made by Boulder-based Meati are being sold at the three Sprouts grocery stores in the Denver area, a milestone for the 3-year-old company.

“It’s a really important step for us,” said Scott Tassani, president of Meati Foods, in an interview. “It sets us up for some really important things.”
