Daly City shopping center could bag some housing


Daly City’s Westlake Shopping Center could soon be joining the slew of Bay Area malls with plans to develop residential apartment buildings on their property.

Kimco Realty, the mall’s owner, wants to demolish an existing two-story, 55,630 square foot commercial building adjacent to Park Plaza Drive and replace it with a six-story mixed-use residential building with 34,074 square feet of ground floor retail space and 179 apartments above, as well as a two-story, 260-space underground parking…
