Drury withdraws downtown Kansas City hotel plans


Drury Southwest Inc. pulled its plan for a downtown hotel.

The development and hotel company withdrew an application for a tax increment financing plan earlier this month that would have helped fund the demolition of the former Kansas City Board of Education building at 1211 McGee St. and construction of a 242-room hotel. TIF allows developers to recoup the increase in property taxes generated by a project to cover project costs.
