Express-News building hits the market


The building that The San Antonio Express-News has called home for nearly 80 years is for sale.

The local paper reported Friday afternoon that its parent company, Hearst Corp., is exploring the sale of the eight-story, 172,000-square-foot building at 301 Avenue E. Built in 1929, the property was last assessed for $10.4 million by the Bexar County Appraisal District.

While no asking price was listed, the property is being marketed by local commercial brokers Ed Cross and Brent Smith of San Antonio…
