Florescu’s sudden departure from Florentine Opera related to sexual misconduct

The Florentine Opera Company said Thursday that William Florescu's abrupt resignation as general director last week was related to sexual misconduct.

At the time of his resignation May 9, the Milwaukee performing arts organization did not state a reason for Florescu’s resignation. His departure came just two years after the Florentine Opera extended Florescu’s contract through June 30, 2024. He had been with the opera company for 11 years at that time.
