Food: Historic restaurants get grants to survive another generation


American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation are giving 25 classic restaurants across America grants to preserve them for future hungry generations.

Each independent restaurant will receive $40,000 to update their physical space and help with operating costs as part of the Backing Small initiative.

Some of the restaurants are well-known, including Antoine's in New Orleans, while others are locals' favorites, such as La Segunda Bakery in Tampa.
