Former Roberts Shoes building on Lake Street burns


A weekend blaze gutted much of a building at Chicago Avenue and Lake Street that was well-known even outside the neighborhood as the home of Roberts Shoes, a shop that closed in 2014 after a 77-year run.

The Star Tribune reported on the fire and its aftermath; no one was injured, but the fire spread so quickly it had engulfed much of the building by the time firefighters arrived late Sunday night.
