General Assembly gives final passage to renewal of hospital ‘bed tax’


Legislation backed by Gov. Brian Kemp aimed at keeping revenue flowing to Georgia's Medicaid program gained final passage in the General Assembly Friday.

The state Senate voted 50-2 to renew through June 2025 a "bed" tax on Georgia hospitals first imposed in 2010.
